My love for new life started early in my final year of doing my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the University of the Free State in 2006. As we were taught by one of the most amazing midwives, Dr Myburg. As she laid the foundation of birthing, and the amazingness of being a woman, not just a woman being pregnant, but also the miracle of being a mother, and a nurturer for her young.
After completing my studies there was only one place where I wanted to spend my working hours, and that was in the maternity ward. I started working in Bloemfontein Mediclinic and there I had the privilege to be finely groomed by my Mentor, Charné Human. She is also the one who introduced me to the sensitive way of birth, and taught me how to help mother’s having a Caesarean section, to also experience a Sensitive Birth, and so in 2014 I started my own private practice doing Sensitive Caesarean Sections, while still working permanently at Bloemfontein Mediclinic.
In 2016 I had the privilege of enrolling at the University of the Free State for my Diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatology. I was top of my class in the final theoretical exam, passing with distinction, and also passing my Practical exam with distinction. This was the year that Estherea opened her doors, and after being introduced to this amazing way of birthing not only just babies, but also assisting in the birth of Parents, giving the expecting mother and father the ability to choose how they want to birth, I knew where I wanted to continue my passion. I completed 10 years of service at Bloemfontein Mediclinic, and look forward to a new beginning in 2017. Not only as a Midwife Specialist at Estherea, but also as a Preceptor for the Final Year Nursing students as they start their path in Midwifery at the University of the Free State. I am also the daughter of the Creator of Life, a Wife to an amazing husband and a mother to two beautiful boys.
