Sandra fell in love with midwifery while busy with her final year B.Soc.Sc (Nursing) degree at the University of the Free State in 2010. She was mentored and guided under the graceful hands of Elgonda Bekker.
In 2011 she married her wonderful husband, André who supports her in all her career choices. Her love for midwifery grew after the midwife-led waterbirth of her first born, Ethan in 2014. Ethan weighed a whopping 4220g at birth. She successfully breastfed her son for 2 years, rekindling her passion for breastfeeding support.
She completed her diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatology in 2017 and joined the Estherea team in 2018. Her passion is to empower women in the birthing process, taking hands during antenatal care, active birth and the postnatal period. Her soft approach to pregnancy and birth ensures a positive experience.
She leads the way at Medi-Clinic Kimberley, assisting families with Sensitive Caesearean Sections and breastfeeding support. The collaboration between Estherea, Dr’s Spangenberg and Potgieter and Medi-Clinic Kimberley provides the opportunity for continuous quality of care.
